The Warrior

The colors on this cross have representational meaning. Black and gold represent the earthly foundation of our lives as we know it. Silver represents the purity of life. Green represents new beginnings as well as the color of organ donation. White represents victory. Lastly, red represents the color of the Holy Spirit that flows through us.

Crosses emit hope and faith. As it says in Exodus 15:2-3, "The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him. The LORD is a warrior; the LORD is his name."We all need warriors in our lives to help us move forward and grow. I am a firm believer that God never gives us more than we can handle. Most of us in this world really have no idea how much time we have on this earth. We go through life expecting to have many more days or years ahead with family and friends when in reality, we don't know how much time we have. Only God knows.

This cross is created in honor of a dear friend. Throughout his time on earth he has had Hodgkin's Lymphoma as a young teenager, a heart attack at the age of 32 (with three daughters all under the age of 6 at the time) and is now on the transplant list to receive a heart. He is 60 years old. The courage and strength he shows while waiting on another's loss seems overwhelming. He is a father, father-in-law, grandfather and physician. He is a warrior for many.

His wife is a pillar of strength like none I have ever seen. Composure is a gross understatement for her foundation, strength, and belief. She is a principal at a K-12 Catholic school and she continues to perform her job each and every day while they wait. She too is a warrior for many.
