Nature Programs Manager Amber Leung will teach a private 2-hour bird art class to your group.  Amber is a naturalist and educator for Houston Audubon based at Edith L Moore Nature Sanctuary, where she teaches educational programs for all ages.  Her artwork of an American kestrel was featured for the 2024 Great Texas Birding Classic.  Class topics include bird anatomy, feather groups, and field marks, followed by sketching tutorials.  Workshop participants have the opportunity to create their own bird artwork in their preferred medium.  Class materials (paper, watercolors, and brushes) will be provided. 

Ever wonder what lives, flies, or grows on your land?  Nature Programs Manager Amber Leung will lead an interpretive nature tour for up to 12 people at a natural location of your choosing in the Greater Houston Gulf Coast Region.  Amber has served the region as a Texas Master Naturalist since 2015 and has educated individuals and crowds of all ages about the diversity of life in our ecosystems ever since.  Topics could include iNaturalist and citizen science, birds, plants, mammals, reptiles, and invertebrates. 

A Fare Extraordinaire (AFE) will host 10 guests in their Tasting Kitchen for a memorable evening filled with delicious food, amazing drinks, and impeccable service. A Fare Extraordinaire’s Executive Chef, Ryan Bouillet, will create a menu utilizing the freshest local and seasonal products for 10 guests. A Fare Extraordinaire will supply waiter(s) and one chef in the execution of a 3-hour dinner party to be held in AFE’s Tasting Kitchen. The dinner will include a specialty cocktail, wine & beer, non-alcoholic beverages, passed hors d’oeuvres and a multi-course seated meal, along with a fresh floral arrangement to complement the seating table. The purchaser’s dietary restrictions and preferences will be taken into consideration, but the menu elements will be a surprise to all who attend the event!

February 7th, 2025 8:00am: Get a private guided tour of Houston Audubon's Damuth Bird Sanctuary. A 617-acre sanctuary of mixed pine and hardwood bottomland habitat in Liberty County, this sanctuary was donated to Houston to be owned and managed as a wildlife sanctuary. Lying in the eastern portion of the San Jacinto River Basin where it drains into Tarkington Bayou, it is open to the public by appointment only. Get a rare glimpse of this protected forest area. You and 3 guests will meet a member of Houston Audubon staff at the entrance and enjoy a 2-hour guided hike.

April 25th, 2025 8:00 am. Get a private guided tour of Houston Audubon's Winters Bayou Sanctuary for up to 4 people. Located in San Jacinto County, 11 miles northwest of the town of Cleveland, this 165-acre sanctuary is adjacent to the Sam Houston National Forest. It is in the transition zone between the Gulf Coastal Prairie, the Piney Woods, and the Blackland Prairie ecoregions. You and 3 guests will meet a member of Houston Audubon's staff at the entrance and enjoy a 2-hour guided hike.

April 23th, 2025 8:00 am. Get a private guided tour of Houston Audubon's Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary. Almost 200 species of bird have been sighted at Edith L. Moore over the years. In addition to our resident birds, seasonal migrants can be found feeding and resting before continuing their journey. You and 5 guests will meet a member of Houston Audubon's staff at the entrance and enjoy a 2-hour guided hike.

With over 40 different species recorded (35+ being annual), the Bolivar Peninsula and adjacent areas is a hotspot for many of the Western Hemisphere’s shorebird species. The abundance and often subtle plumage of many of these species (particularly in the winter) can also make it a frustrating group to decipher. On this trip we’ll be focusing on shorebird identification and ecology, with the goal of finding as many species as possible from the mudflats of Bolivar Flats to the freshwater marshes of Anahuac NWR.

Its no secret that the Bolivar Peninsula is birdy, and this trip is designed to showcase that diversity. From the Oak mottes of High Island, to the coastal dunes of Bolivar Flats, you and 5 guests will traverse the Peninsula in search of all the avian diversity it has to offer. Time-of-year will dictate which specific species we’ll see, but the goal remains the same: see more than 100 species for the day! Special emphasis can be placed on “target birding” for particular species. We’ll also have a chance to explore the ecology and history that makes the Bolivar Peninsula and our sanctuaries such a unique place to bird.
