Is your son an animal lover? Is he considering a career in veterinary medicine?  Spend a day with Dr. Pittenger.  You will experience, first hand, the daily activities of a veterinarian including appointments, walk-ins and emergencies. The winner should expect observing procedures, routine hospital visits, imaging, and day-to-day operations in a busy animal veterinary practice.

The student must be at least 14 years old to participate, and this event will take place on a mutually agreeable day.  Winner must schedule the “professional for a day” within in one year of the auction.

Dr. Palumbo and The Orthopedic Sports Clinic have provided medical coverage for Strake Jesuit's football program and their other athletic programs for many years. Here is a fantastic opportunity for a student at Strake Jesuit, who is interested in the medical field, to spend a day with Dr. Palumbo. The morning will be spent shadowing Dr. Palumbo in the clinic, learning the basics of history taking, physical examination and reading x-rays and MRI scans. During the afternoon you will observe Dr. Palumbo perform surgery at a state-of-the-art Orthopedic outpatient surgery center.

This event will take place on a mutually agreeable Friday, when school is not in session, either during the summertime or other scheduled holiday.

Dr Steven Hogan is an owner and dentist at Houston’s Pediatric Dentist, a private pediatric dental practice in the Memorial area. You will have the opportunity to shadow Dr. Hogan observing dental procedures, learning terminology and techniques, and acquiring knowledge about the journey of studying and practicing pediatric dentistry. Shadowing Dr. Hogan will give you the opportunity to confirm and demonstrate your desire to pursue dentistry, no matter the specialty.

Spend a day with Dr. Edgar Castro at the Johnson Space Center as the US Space Program charges beyond Low Earth Orbit to the exploration of the Moon, Mars and beyond. Your day will include visits to multiple departments including robotics, avionics and hazardous testing laboratories. Be a fly on the wall during International Space Station operation discussions and learn about lunar system projects currently in development.  At the end of the day, wrap up with a mentoring session to think through your academic and professional career aspirations.
