A 617-acre sanctuary of mixed pine and hardwood bottomland habitat in Liberty County, this sanctuary was donated to Houston to be owned and managed as a wildlife sanctuary. Lying in the eastern portion of the San Jacinto River Basin where it drains into Tarkington Bayou, it is open to the public by appointment only. Get a rare glimpse of this protected forest area. You and your 3 guests will meet a member of Houston Audubon staff at the entrance and enjoy a 2-hour guided hike on a mutually agreed upon date.
