| Description of Item |
My piece is titled "Clouds" because it was inspired by a place I've been that, to me, seemed to be above the clouds. I went to Montserrat, Spain with my mother and sister in the winter of 2019. We took a bus through the winding mountain roads to get to the Monastery on top of the mountain. It was one of the most beautiful spiritual places that I have ever seen. The Church was ornate but also simple with its stucco walls and stained glass windows. We watched the boys' choir perform, and it was almost as if a choir of angels was singing in this place in the sky. My mom and I went to explore the area further by taking a walking path to a cross on the edge of the mountain, looking out over the valley below. This is the cross that you can see painted within the Jesuit cross here. |
