| "Great Horned Owl" - Kiln Formed Glass Feather Each feather is carefully hand cut from a sheet of glass. A special fusible glass paint is applied to add the details that bring to life each feather. From there, various sizes and colors of frit (crushed glass) are layered and the ppiece is fired multiple times at high temperatures. Finally, each leaf is fired one last time at a lower temperature to give it shape, yeilding a leaf that resembles one found in nature. Finally, to add a finishing touch, the feathers are wire wrapped, beaded and hung on a hand finished branch. |
